在對像的選擇上，有人給過一個六十秒的測驗，知道對方合不合適：
問自己下列四個問題：
第一，我會想和對方生兒育女嗎？
第二，我會希望孩子將來像對方嗎？
第三，我希望越來越像對方嗎？
第四，對方若一直沒有改變，我還願意跟他共度一生嗎？即使對方一輩子都不改變。
就品格而言，往正面、成熟的方向成長改變，是必需的，
就外表、談吐、氣質、個性、興趣而言…
愛對方，是接受對方的優點，也接納甚至欣賞缺點，即使一輩子都不改變，
愛對方的全部，就是喜歡那起初的愛，是打從心底的喜歡。
因此這首歌所訴說的是否是：
愛她/他的重點是在…心思意念上相知相惜，心有靈犀一點通，
而不在追求外在環境的因素，就是喜歡原來的樣子，那是愛對方的原因之一，
因為一開始在各方面上的吸引，成為了知己，心靈上的水乳交融，
讓那起初的愛一直都沒有改變，因此才會I love you just the way you are!
